Hi, I’m Ross Aubrey, founder of Higher Purpose Fitness and creator of the Simple Kettlebell Workouts program.

Here it is: The true, behind the scenes story of how one of the most embarrassing (and depressing) events of my life turned out to be one of the BEST things that has ever happened to me
I can remember that Valentine’s Day like it was yesterday. It was a little bit after 10:00 when my girlfriend and I walked into our apartment. We just finished eating some amazing food at a new restaurant in Atlanta. Things seemed a bit "off" when we got settled so I asked her what was up… and… I was quickly fed some B.S. for dessert. "You deserve better, Ross. You’ve done more than I could ever ask for." You know, the classic, "it’s not you, it’s me" line?!
Well, that was it for us…AND…I was fat…REALLY fat. This was one of the most painful times of my life. I became winded from just walking up the steps to our apartment. I was addicted to all sorts of junk food and I was depressed.
In fact, that’s an understatement. A MASSIVE understatement. I was beyond depressed. I ended up in the hospital because I wanted OUT of this life. I tried to kill myself because I had ZERO self-esteem, my girlfriend wanted out of our relationship (and LEFT ME), and I was literally SICK of looking at my DISGUSTING body in the mirror and feeling the way I felt. Every day I was stuffing my face, doing completely INNEFFECTIVE, TIME-WASTING exercise when I actually had spurts of motivation, and making my problem exponentially worse and worse.
After getting out of the hospital and being kicked out by my girlfriend, I decided that there was only one option: I NEEDED TO TAKE CONTROL OF MY LIFE!!! It was time to DITCH THE REPULSIVE FAT and live the life I was meant to live.
Like it was yesterday, I remember the day I could see my abs…and see them like never before!!! I finally had confidence that I could do ANYTHING. I knew there was a PURPOSE for my life. My new body, self-image, and unstoppable mindset gave me motivation to finish college AND I actually changed my major to Exercise Science because of this! I FINALLY had confidence, self-esteem, drive, motivation, and a body I’d never experienced before.
